Phoenix Mercury at Seattle Storm

  • Leg 1: Seattle Storm -6 (-112)
  • Leg 2: Under 162 Total Points (-110)
  • Leg 3: Natasha Cloud To Score 10+ Points (-176)

The Mercury (17-18) and Storm (20-14) meet for the third time in four regular-season meetings, as the teams will also wrap up the campaign on Sept. 19 at Footprint Center.

The Mercury has been, pun totally intended, dropping lately. Phoenix suffered a 90-77 setback at home against the Washington Mystics on Thursday, and they have dropped four of the past five games to slip a game under .500. In addition, Phoenix is just 1-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past seven games while going 4-8-1 ATS in the past 13 outings.

For the Storm, they suffered a 77-70 loss against the New York Liberty to wrap up a brutal road trip. It wasn’t brutal in the sense of wins and losses, as Seattle won once in three tries. However, they had a back-to-back at Connecticut, splitting a pair, before losing to the Lib. And, before that, the Storm hosted the Liberty on Aug. 30 in the most recent home game. So that’s four games against the league’s top two teams.

Seattle has covered the past two outings after an 0-9 ATS skid from July 14-September 1. The Under has cashed in the past two games, too, with the Storm averaging just 70.5 PPG in the past two contests while allowing 70.5 PPG. For Phoenix, the Over has cashed in three of the past four games, and the Mercury have allowed 80 or more points in five of the past six outings.

These teams haven’t met since June 16, with the Mercury picking up an 87-78 victory at home as a 3.5-point underdog as the Under (166) connected. In the only previous meeting in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle won 80-62 as a 5-point favorite, again as the Under (164) cashed.

In this series, the home team is 4-1 SU in the past five meetings, and the Storm is 5-1 SU/ATS in the past six in the series. The Under has hit in three in a row, too. As such, we’re going to go with Seattle laying the points, and Under. This is not simply a trend bet, but it’s also because the Mercury isn’t playing very well lately.

As far as the player props are concerned, Natasha Cloud has been on a roll, posting 12 or more points in three of the past four outings. She had 13 points in the most recent game with Washington on Thursday. In addition, she went for 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals in 37 minutes in an 80-62 Commissioner’s Cup Game loss at Seattle back on June 4. As such, Cloud is worth including in your SGP to score 10+ points.

Parlay Odds: +512

Phoenix Mercury at Seattle Storm

  • Leg 1: Seattle Storm -6 (-112)
  • Leg 2: Under 162 Total Points (-110)
  • Leg 3: Natasha Cloud To Score 10+ Points (-176)
  • Leg 4: Jewell Loyd To Make 2+ Threes (-240)
  • Leg 5: Kahleah Copper Over 5.5 Rebounds (+122)

In the second SGP, we’ll get a little crazier. In addition to the Storm, the Under, and Cloud hitting double digits, let’s take two more player props.

Seattle’s Jewell Loyd had a disastrous game last time out in New York on Thursday, posting just six points on 3-of-8 shooting, while misfiring on each of her three attempts from behind the arc. Before that, she had two or more triples in five consecutive games. There is some concern, as she also went without a three in the most recent meeting with Phoenix on June 16, although she had two 3-pointers in the Commissioner’s Cup Game win on June 4, posting 15 points, seven boards, and six dimes in 33 minutes.

Phoenix’s Kahleah Copper is usually known for her scoring prowess, and she has posted double digits in seven straight outings. However, we’ll focus on her rebounding ability. She is extremely consistent, going for four or more boards in six of the past seven outings, and she is averaging 6.5 RPG in two meetings with Seattle this season. If you’re a little more conservative, you can play Copper 4+ Rebounds (-375), but Over 5.5 (+122) can make this parlay much more lucrative.

Parlay Odds: +1957
